Camping on a Shoestring budget

If your family is like most, you can’t afford an costly family vacation, but camping is the next best thing.  It makes a great alternative because you can do it on nearly any budget.  A great place to camp is a State park or national forest because it only costs about $12-25, much cheaper than a hotel room.  Most sites come equipped with a fire pit, picnic table, and a grill.  Also, most site at state parks have bathrooms and shower houses and possibly electricity run to your camp site.

Another reason to take your family camping is that there is are endless possibilities for activities.  You can go hiking, fishing, swimming, boating, and more.  Most campsites allow bikes and other toys to keep the little ones occupied.  The only downfall is that if you are a first time camper, you will need to invest a good bit of money, about $200-300 for the proper camping gear.  You will need items like a tent, sleeping bags, flashlights, coolers, and other items to make your trip more comfortable.
