The exploratory nature lover and his camping gear
As young students we all have studied that the earth consists of 7 continents 5 oceans and there are numerous mountains, rivers, hills and forests. But have we ever wondered how it they were ever discovered which formed the inseparable part of the geography of this earth? We have gone through our books mechanically, regurgitated in the exams whatever we learnt in our class room and went on with our studies, to use personal watercraft.
All the facts that we know about this planet happens to be because there were some daring and courageous men who braved everything that came their way to discover new places on this planet. Nobody or nothing could have stopped them from doing what they wanted to. They were not even having the kind of sophisticated equipment that we have today, to undertake long adventures and explorations in your ocean kayak.
The outdoorsman and his water filter does not buckle under pressure or any kind of threat. He is known to carry on with his explorative activities, armed with his camping gear and other essentials. The average man believes in doing soft activities on day to day basis and presumes that this is life and that is how he has to live. But, an outdoorsman would feel suffocated to live the way an average man lives.
There is a famous saying which goes like this, “If a path does not have obstacles, probably it will lead anywhere at all”. This is so very true in case of adventurous men. They are so used to leading tough lives and overcoming obstacles that they become a part of their lives.
Imagine if only adventurers like, Columbus, Vasco Da Gama, James Cook and Robinson Crusoe were equipped with modern camping gear and equipment! Wouldn’t they have done more wonders? We only talk of the altitude of high mountains but there have been men who have scaled those heights, fearlessly. We only study and memorize their feats for the sake of preparing from exams. We are proud of them and look up to them, nevertheless.
But then, there is no grudging the ordinary men at the same time. We need all kinds of people to complete an egalitarian society. You need doctors, teachers, craftsmen, soldiers, engineers, politicians, actors, so on and so forth and all are important in their respective niches, making their own contribution to the sustenance of a society.
But ultimately, the fact remains that it is the toughies and the daredevils who hog all the attention and admiration from the society. Since every person dreams of being a rugged, tough and a born leader, such men who are close to nature at all times, earn his immediate adulation and unconcealed awe. If Nature can be compared to god, then the rugged outdoorsman with his camping gear is close to god, most part of his life.
